Dear I-weekly,
A recent article painted a picture of me laughing al the way to the bank. Truth is, I had to laugh more than I would imagine I had to, my whole life, for the past 4 years.
"Why? Why? Why?"
"Because nobody likes a sulky, skinny girl."
"As opposed to a happy skinny girl? Or a sulky voluptious girl? Or a happy voluptious girl?"
And because I am not voluptious, the answer was pretty clear. And, it turned out to be a pretty good formula. Not that I'm complaining of course. Imagine having to sulk for 4 years, or plastic boobies.
These days, it's a lot easier to smile, the skies seem clearer and the air smells cleaner. And when I hear an occasional careless comment, "You are too skinny", I think, "Ya, but I'm happy."
But I also wish I had said, "I don't even know you and you probably have dimpled thighs and I hate you."
And you can imagine a true picture of me, laughing all the way home.
Cheers, Yanzi 转自新加坡《I-周刊》
